Nations once capable of __2__ their own needs have grown deeply dependent __3__ international supply chains for raw materials, technology, and consumer goods. This interdependence, while fostering prosperity, has made economies __4__ to disruptions originating in distant markets. The 2008 financial crisis, for instance, originated in the United States before rapidly __5__ to economies across Europe and Asia. Policymakers recognised that unilateral responses were wholly __6__ to address crises of such global magnitude. International bodies such as the IMF __7__ in to coordinate a multilateral response.
