'Trees' is a plural noun. Plural subjects take a plural verb. 'Are' is the plural form of 'to be'. 'Is' is singular (used for 'he', 'she', 'it', or singular nouns). 'The trees are moving' is the correct form. This error โ using a singular verb after a plural noun โ is very common and frequently tested in CBSE editing.

Show Answer & Explanation
Adrienne Rich's poem uses 'recover' โ 'The roots work all night / to disengage themselves from the cracks / in the veranda floor. / The leaves strain toward the glass / small twigs stiff with exertion / long-cramped boughs shuffling under the roof / like newly discharged patients / half-dazed, moving / to the only door.' The word 'recover' specifically captures regaining health/strength after confinement.
