Glimpses of India โ Grammar Exercises
Two grammar exercises based on real NCERT sentences from this chapter. Practise the editing and gap-filling formats tested in CBSE Section B.
Exercise 1Editing / Error Correction
The sentence below has one grammatical error. Find the incorrect word and write the correction.
Show Answer & Explanation
The sentence describes a childhood memory โ past tense throughout ('ran', 'met'). 'Wake' is the present tense form. The irregular past tense of 'wake' is 'woke' (wake โ woke โ woken). The sentence mixes 'wake' (present) with 'ran' (past) โ an inconsistent tense that CBSE often tests.
Exercise 2Gap Filling
Choose the option that best fills the blank in the sentence below.
Show Answer & Explanation
The NCERT text states clearly: 'He used to come at least twice a day.' The baker's two daily visits โ morning round and return trip โ are a key detail showing how central bakers were to Goan life. 'Once' contradicts the text, 'thrice' and 'four times' are not mentioned.
