RuleImperative Mood โ€” Base Form of Verb
Explanation

In imperatives (commands/instructions), always use the base form of the verb โ€” never add '-s', '-ed', or '-ing'. 'Don't hunch' (base form) is the correct imperative. 'Hunches' is the third-person singular present form, used only in statements: 'She hunches her shoulders.' In a command ('Don't ___'), only the base form is used.

NCERT original: Don't bite your nails, Amanda! / Don't hunch your shoulders, Amanda!

RuleReading Comprehension โ€” Poem Detail
Explanation

Amanda imagines herself as a 'mermaid' in one of her daydream stanzas. She pictures herself drifting in the sea โ€” a world without instructions and restrictions. The mermaid represents freedom, solitude, and escape from the nagging voice of her mother. This is one of the three fantasy worlds Amanda imagines (mermaid, orphan, Rapunzel).
